Safety has always been – and will continue to be – our top priority at Matrix Environmental. We deal with dangerous working conditions and hazardous materials on a daily basis. Because of this we have chosen not only to train our employees according to OSHA standards, we have developed our own Safety Training requirements that set the standard in the demolition and hazardous remediation industry.

Matrix Environmental recently had published our annual Workers’ Compensation Safety Rating for 2018-2019. Our rating was 0.67, which is an industry-leading mark. This proves that our commitment to safety training pays off with excellent results. A rating like this only comes with hundreds of thousands of hours worked safely by our field crews and the constant safety training and inspections by our safety staff. Exceeding Industry Standards

OSHA and other safety organizations set the minimum safety standards for our industry. However, Matrix Environmental exceeds those with the highest standards in our field. We have an in-house OSHA Authorized Outreach Trainer who provides OSHA 30 training for all supervisors and OSHA 10 training for our entire labor force. These training protocols must be renewed every three years.

Matrix Environmental’s safety guidelines also include training in the Foundations for Safety leadership, which is designed to further expand the knowledge of all employees in maintaining a positive safety culture. Along with this, Matrix Environmental is a licensed training provider for the American Red Cross. We employ a full-time First Aid/CPR/AED instructor, ensuring all employees not only receive regular training but have access to constant continuing education.

Other in-house safety training initiatives include operators’ certifications for heavy equipment, forklift, aerial boom and scissor lift operation, among others.

Specialized Training Initiatives

One of Matrix Environmental’s largest work locations is Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Because of the volume of work completed for this owner, this job requires additional specialized training for compliance. We are in the process of providing training for numerous core workers, assisting them in obtaining STS-C certifications through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. We always encourage all of our qualified workforces to raise the bar by securing BCSP certifications.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all Matrix Environmental field employees, management team and our clients for helping to create a safe working environment. We also want to send a special thanks to our dedicated full-time safety manager. Together, we have put a priority on safety and everyone involved has truly embraced it, as indicated by our industry-leading Workers’ Compensation Safety Rating.
